Benefits

Allowances or benefits form a supplement on top of your income. They contribute towards the costs. There are four benefits:

• rent benefit
• healthcare benefit
• childcare benefit
• supplementary child benefit

The level of your income and the income of your benefit partner, if applicable, determine whether you are eligible to receive benefits. For healthcare benefit, supplementary child benefit and rent benefit, your assets also count. You must apply for benefits through the Dutch tax office. One exception is the supplementary child benefit. This allowance usually doesn't require an application.
